Alternative ending

There was another one task - to imagine an alternative ending. But I think, the characters were too deep in their problems, so the tragic ending is inevitable. But there are some crucial moments in the book and by means of changing them it was possible to change the events. For example - if Charlotte didn't die in the accident, the things would be absolutely different. I don't think Humbert would dare to hurt young Lolita.
And if in the beginning of the book Anabelle didn't die of typhus, Humbert would never become such a brute. Everything would be alright.

The aspects of culture reflected in the book

from the 1st sight it's not easy to understand the aspects reflected in the book and to be frank I didn't have a clue to the very end. So I think the most important aspect is the relationships between parents and children. In the novel we have a vivid example of a great misunderstanding. So I think a parent should be as close to his child as possible so that he could protect him from the cruel world. Charlotte Haze failed to do it not because she died whe Dolores was 12 under the wheels of a car, but she even being alive couldn't find compromise with her daughter.
According to the culture, I can say that the cultural aspects themselves are very vague there. the main point in the book is relationship between man and a girl. but the travelling around the America can be an example of these aspects. it was a popular stuff those days.

If I could maka a movie..

Nowadays there's a tendency of making a screen version of different novels. And I tink It's great! Sometimes watching a moving can be more exciting than reading a book. But I do think cinematizing is a hard nut to crack. It's necessary to understand the main clue of the book, even to feel the idea. Besides, the actors must be perfect so that they could reproduce the character's manner of behaving, his habits and so on.
Well, I wanted to say some words about the actors I would like to have in my movie.
I think that Lindsay Lohan would be the best Lolita ever. She looks in the way it should be. And also,Brooke Shields (but young Brooke) could play this role.
As to Humbert, to my mind Anthony Hopkins could play this role. He is a talented actor, and I think he could easily be Humbert.

Also I wanted to attach some photoes ( the way I see the main characters).

Finally I can't help mentioning the one who woild play Charlotte Haze, Lolita's mother. Maybe Cher could do it, but I'm not sure. She's too gorgeous to be that woman.

Letter

It's rather difficult to create a letter that Humbert could send to Nabokov. Unfortunately i didn't quite understand the task itself.  But let me have a try!

"Hello, my dear creator!
I'm writing to you because I want you to know - I repent all my sins. I'm a brute, and I do not deserve being forgiven, but having read Annie's blog I understood all my mistakes. But the book that you've written have good ideas for the young generation - that one shouldn't behave as I did, one shouldn't behave as Lolita did. It's a good book for all the parents existing - by means of this novel, they can save their children form being hurt. They just should look after them well. And it'll be all right.
Anyway, I want very much to see another edition of the book in question. I wish you took away all the stupid scenes, all the sad scenes. I just want you to show to the reader that I'm just a forlorn soul. I've never had friends, and The Destiny wasn't nice and sweet in my case. Mercy on me! And let me have another chance to prove that ever the blackest sinner can become pretty normal"

Like this. Maybe be it's not a clever letter ,but it shows some of my  thoughts.

A short film

LOLITA AS A COMMON NOUN

Lolita is a nickname for Dolores. It is also a term used to describe a prepubescent or adolescent girl who is attractive and sexually responsive. She lusts after older men, and is lusted by them in return. The term originates from the Vladimir Nabokov novel ''Lolita'' which told the tale of the love affair between middle aged Humbert and his 12 year old stepdaughter Lolita. It became a popular term in the 90's when the teenaged Amy Fisher who shot the wife of her older lover Joey Buttafauco, was called ''The Long Island Lolita''. The term was also used a lot during the controversy surrounding the 90's remake of the 1962 film version of Lolita directed by the late Stanley Kubrick. The film which starred Jeremy Irons and was directed by Adrian Lyne, had trouble finding backers due to the controversial subject matter. 14 year old Dominique Swain played the title character, and the fact that a child actress was playing an underaged character involved with sex with adults fueled the controversy. Lolita is also used as a euphemism for child erotica, child porn, or barely legal adult porn.

And also the name Humbert can be used in slang as a common noun, it means "pedophile"
